Released on August 21, ‘Irumudi’ has delivered an exceptional performance at the box office, generating nearly Rs. 51 crores within its first four days. The film kicked off with Rs. 12.12 crores on opening day, climbed to Rs. 15.82 crores by Sunday, and held steady on Monday with a surprising Rs. 10.25 crores. Owing to this strong audience demand, the film’s distributor, Mythri Movie Makers, is refusing to yield its screens, insisting on retaining a substantial number of shows across single screens and multiplexes to maximize its ongoing run.
Distribution Demands and Theater Deadlock
Conversely, Sri Venkateswara Creations, the regional distributor for ‘Toxic’, is pushing for complete dominance in single-screen theaters along with a lion’s share of multiplex slots. Citing massive fan anticipation for Yash’s return to the big screen, they argue that the mid-week release warrants maximum capacity. With neither party reaching a consensus on screen allocation, local exhibitors and online ticketing platforms have been unable to open seating charts or finalize schedules for either movie.

Industry analysts and trade insiders report that negotiations between both distribution houses are actively underway to negotiate a middle ground. With release deadlines looming, stakeholders expect the dispute to settle shortly, allowing theater owners to release revised show schedules for ‘Irumudi’ and open advance ticket sales for ‘Toxic’ across both states.
