The wait for Kannada superstar Yash’s next big-screen release, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, is finally nearing its end. After the blockbuster success of KGF: Chapter 2, Yash is returning to theatres with another highly anticipated action film.
The makers are preparing a massive worldwide release for Toxic. According to the latest reports, the action-gangster drama is expected to release across approximately 12,000 screens worldwide, putting it among the biggest Indian film releases in terms of global screen count.
Release on August 26, Advance Booking From August 21
Toxic is scheduled to arrive in theatres on August 26. Advance bookings are expected to open from August 21, coinciding with the Varamahalakshmi festival.
This will give audiences an opportunity to book their tickets five days before the film’s theatrical release. Considering the scale of the release and the massive anticipation around Yash’s return after KGF: Chapter 2, expectations are high for a strong opening at the box office.
If the film receives a positive response from audiences, its huge screen count could give it a significant advantage during the opening days.
A Strong Combination of Big Stars
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic is a dark gangster drama featuring a large ensemble cast.
Alongside Yash, the film stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair in key roles.
The combination of popular actors from different Indian film industries has further increased the buzz around the movie. Yash’s presence, in particular, has made Toxic one of the most awaited Kannada films of the year.
A Strong Distribution Network Across Markets
Toxic is being produced under the banners of KVN Productions, led by Venkat K. Narayana, and Yash’s own Monster Mind Creations.
To ensure a wide theatrical reach, the makers have partnered with distributors across different regions:
- Karnataka: KVN Productions will handle the distribution itself.
- Kerala: Panorama Films has acquired the distribution rights.
- Andhra Pradesh & Telangana: Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations will release the film.
- North India & Nepal: AA Films holds the theatrical rights.
- Tamil Nadu: Think Studios, S Pictures, Trident Arts (White Nights) and Five Star Senthil will jointly handle the distribution.
- International Markets: Phars Film will distribute the Indian-language versions in overseas markets. The makers have also entered into a special agreement with Hollywood studio Lionsgate for the English version.
With distributors covering major domestic and international markets, Toxic is being positioned as a truly global theatrical release.
Technical Team and Multiple Languages
The film also features an experienced technical team. Rajeev Ravi has handled the cinematography, while Vishal Mishra has composed the songs.
The background score has been provided by KGF fame Ravi Basrur, adding further excitement for fans who enjoyed the musical and action-driven world of the KGF franchise.
Toxic is set to release theatrically in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English.
With a reported worldwide screen count of around 12,000, a strong star cast, multiple language versions and an extensive distribution network, Toxic is gearing up for one of the biggest theatrical releases of Yash’s career. The real test, however, will begin on August 26 when the film opens worldwide and its box office performance becomes clear.
